The Sprinkle Diet
Here’s how it works: Researchers send out bottles of sprinkles to participants. The sprinkles are salty and sweet with different flavors sent out each month.
“Just sprinkle the salty taste on the salty food and the sweet taste on the sweet food,” says Romine.
“Whenever you feel like eating, just sprinkle this onto your food, with the idea it’ll make you feel full faster,” says researcher Dr. Alan Hirsch.
Hirsch, of the Taste and Smell Treatment Foundation says this works through the senses in a couple ways. The sprinkles smell salty or sweet, and that smell travels up to the brain, making it think the body is actually more full. Also, the sprinkles make the foods taste the same and that causes people to lose their desire to eat more.
People who test the diet aren’t asked to change their eating habits or exercise more. Dr. Hirsch says while those are the best ways to lose weight, most people don’t have the discipline and that’s why he’s testing the sprinkles.
“Over a six-month period of time, there was an average weight loss of 34.7 pounds,” claims Hirsch.
The sprinkles are made from all natural ingredients, so they don’t require FDA approval.
