Personal savings set ‘to soar’ as confidence increases
‘LEVELS of personal savings and investment in the UK are set to soar, according to research out today.
The Alliance & Leicester Wealth Tracker Index, which surveyed 2000 adults across the UK, reported that people are planning to double the amount they save compared with a year ago. Investment confidence is also increasing, the report added, with stock market returns improving.
The findings back the positive tone of last week’s Nationwide report, which showed consumer confidence on the rise in January.
It revealed that consumers were more optimistic about the housing market and that confidence had risen about making “big ticket” purchases such as houses or cars.’
