’Australians need to stop wasting money’
‘Australians are wasting AUS$10,5-billion a year on goods they never use as “retail therapy” becomes a compulsion, according to a study released on Saturday.
The Australia Institute, an independent think-tank, said the amount of wasted food alone was worth 13 times the country’s annual overseas aid budget.
A survey of more than 1 600 people commissioned by the institute found wealthy people and the young were most likely to waste money on items such as unused CDs, clothes and gym memberships.’
