Women to pound past men in wealth stakes
‘NEW research from the Centre for Economics and Business Research predicts women are going to be wealthier than men 20 years from now.
Currently, women account for 48 per cent of the UK’s personal wealth and this is expected to rise to as much as 60 per cent by 2025, due to a combination of women performing better in all levels of education and higher levels of home ownership among single women.
Also at the present time there are 24 per cent more female millionaires aged 18-44 than male ones - 47,355 compared to 37,935.
However, this research has also revealed that women are less likely to engage in long-term financial planning, and that single women in particular are far less likely than the national average to have mortgage protection, employment protection or permanent health insurance’
