How benefits can be better than cash
‘HOW many of us fail to look beyond the headline figure when taking a new job? A lot it seems. I have been as guilty as the next person of grabbing the larger figure in my time. That, according to research from financial advice group Origen, could be down to my second X chromosome.
It says women are 50 per cent less likely to be in their company pension scheme than men. This is no sexist workplace conspiracy. Women are simply less likely to ask if and what benefits are on offer. And less than 10 per cent of women appreciate the real value of such benefits.
All of this means they could be missing out on thousands of pounds worth of benefits that would crucially leave them with more money in their pocket at the end of the month. Don’t believe me? Financial advice firm Chase de Vere did the sums….’
