If a screeching, grating voice attempting to make music (or “sing” - as they put it) is your thing, then Gnarls Barkley is the duo for you.

They broke into the charts in early 2006 with their first hit “Crazy”… and some claim it is well titled - as you’d “have to be crazy to listen to it”. Nelly Furtado also covered the single in her new album, and while her version has been cited as “not a patch on the original”, many prefer her voice.

“St. Elsewhere” is the duo’s first album, and it’s sales are good, though the only real enticement seems to be how unique it is… and that isn’t the description most current teenage musical crazes get, so at least we conclude it isn’t just another cliched garage band trying to make it big.
