BoyBand
It’s amazing what a little PR can do to make a group so much more popular in the teenage eye.
The Edge radio station (very popular among teenagers) recently created New Zealand’s first ever BoyBand (naturally, inventively named “BoyBand“). The band consists of five members; “Hot Boy“– Peter from Hamilton, “Gay Boy“– Rob from Wellington, “Fat Boy“– Jacob from Dunedin, “Mummy’s Boy“– Chris from Whakatane, and “Bad Boy“– Gerard from Auckland.
Usually, nobody would take a second glance at a wannabe Westlife group releasing a cover of an old song (The Kinks’ “You Really Got Me”), but The Edge’s campaign to get these boys to number one seems to be starting well… with teenagers everywhere lining up at the performances nationwide.
Who would have thought that a little old BoyBand from little old New Zealand could sound even slightly good - let alone capture the teenage interest?
