Emo

One of the newest fashion “groups” that has formed in the world of teenagers, is that of the emos (emoes?).

Influenced by bands such as Auckland’s False Start, emos are generally seen in black skinny jeans, black Chucks or Vans, and black t-shirts… with their hair cut semi-short in a definite side fringe, and died black.

The culture began a long time ago, and was originally used to describe hardcore “emotional” music, but has changed to describe both music that is more traditionally “emo”, and those who sport the fashion associated with the culture (described above). It can also describe a state of a person - as being very emotional (though stereotypically somewhat depressive). It is usually taken up by teenagers, when they are in that more fragile stage of their life.

Emos are a relatively new group emerging, but they’re already pretty easy to spot in a crowd on a summer day…
